Bonnet: The Person Under the Hat
Mable, shown left during the 1930s, worked hard for all of her life, but she never lost hope. She worked during the day for food at a local farm, shucking corn during the Summer and tending to sheep during the winter. She had 3 children and 5 grandchildren, who all lived in the same house during The Great Depression.
Even though her family was going through rough times, she still held onto one item from her past...a lace bonnet purchased for her by her mother as a wedding present (shown below).
